His Vision, Action and Commitments

School education is being redefined with the growth of artificial intelligence, robotics and biotechnology. Preparing our children for such a rapidly changing world requires relevant and modernised education. This does not mean, however, discarding traditional teaching techniques and replacing them with computer screens. What it does mean is that we must deliver our children core subject knowledge in a way that incorporates this ever-developing technology, which is efficient and engaging, in order to equip them with the knowledge and digital skills that the future will demand.

Delivering the Indian curriculum in Oman presents significant challenges to teachers, school administrators and parents. Being one of the largest networks of schools – with more than 47000 students and 1955 teachers – our Indian School system needs practical solutions that are realistic to implement and highly relevant.

Dr Siva has gained an excellent understanding of our unique and complex education system with experience at ISM as a Teacher, Head of the Department, Member of the Academic Task Force, Member of the School Management Committee, Chair of the Academic Subcommittee of SMC, Member of the Academic Advisory Council to the Board of Directors and the Chairman-BoD.

He, therefore, envisions:

Students

  • Empowering them to acquire, demonstrate and articulate the knowledge and skills to become life-long learners.
  • Students to rely on school for all educational needs and receive quality education just-in-time.
Teachers

  • Supporting and recognising teachers as passionate, skilled professionals with strong digital literacy skills.
  • Continue supporting teachers to free them from administrative duties and to focus on academic functions.
Schools

  • Configuring schools on the needs of students and the abilities of teachers.
  • Providing well-rounded academic foundations that support cultural and global competencies.
  • Recent addition of Regional Language Classes to be extended and to continue regularly.
Parents

  • Ensuring parents have access to safe, cost-effective and inclusive education.
  • Forming Institutional Grievance Redressal Cell. Better financial transparency and accountability.
  • Uniform and high teaching and assessment standards.
